The unions also called on Adidas to set up a labor protection fund in the event of a factory closure or in the event of a global crisis, in particular urging companies to respect the right of trade unions and workers to form unions and collective bargaining negotiation.
Regarding the right to freedom of association and the right to form a union, President of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers, Pav Sina in the campaign on the morning of May 11, 2023, said that: "Generally we know Workers' bases remain a challenge, with the formation of their local unions still being fired by employers and the use of employment contracts as an excuse to terminate their employment due to union formation."
In Cambodia, the closure of workers' freedom to form local unions continues to occur on a daily basis. "We would like to see both Adidas and all buyers and suppliers doing business in Cambodia comply with international labor standards, especially the ILO Convention No. 87, which states that "It is a convention that guarantees workers' right to participate as well as the formation of unions to protect the common interests of workers." He said.
