Phnom Penh: Hundreds of workers went on strike and blocked Street 217 in front of Y&W Company, situated at 217 Chamkar Dong Street, Prek Chrey Village, Spean Thmor Commune, Dangkor District on March 12, 2024.

The strike persisted following a meeting between the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and local union workers and other stakeholders that failed to yield a resolution.

It should be noted that on March 9, 2024, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training issued a notice urging workers, legal advisors, local unions, and other stakeholders to cease this activity immediately and seek legal remedies in order to uphold public order and the welfare of the general populace.

As per the Ministry of Labor, the labor dispute at Y&W involved the closure of the company, with the employer absconding from the factory. This situation is to be addressed in accordance with labor law and bankruptcy regulations.
