Phnom Penh: More than 40 trade unions and civil society organizations on December 1, 2023, brought a petition to the Ministry of Women's Affairs and the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training in order to continue to urge the Cambodian government to ratify the International Labor Organization Convention. No. 190 (C190) as soon as possible.
The Collective Union of Movement of Workers’ vice president, Suan Sopha said that "The aim of bringing petition today is for the Cambodian government to ratify ILO Convention 190, as it has been observed that this is very important in promoting labor rights and reducing violence and harassment in the world of work, as well as many other priorities.
She said that "Convention 190 is very important for workers, today's petition campaign was attended by all institutions and the process of filing the petition was conducted peacefully and without any interference or prohibition from the authorities.
It should be noted that unions and civil society organizations have repeatedly insisted on the Cambodian government to ratify the International Labor Organization Convention No. 190 (C190) as soon as possible, Suan Sopha added that "We continue to urge and continue to send messages as well as further petitions for the government to ratify this convention, and we will continue to do so until the government decides to ratify it."
