The Minimum wage of $204 Unable to meet the workers' expenses: Pav Sina

Phnom Penh: President of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers, Pav Sina, said that the increase in the minimum wage for workers in 2024, which amounted to $204, does not meet the workers' daily costs due to goods on the market continuing to rise in price.

His remarks came after concluding negotiations with the National Minimum Wage Council, with the result that the minimum wage for workers in 2024 will be $204.

Pav Sina said, "For me this wage increase has not yet met the living needs of workers due to the increase in workers' costs. However, we still request some proposals.  In addition, to help reduce the cost of workers as well.

Following a series of negotiations between stakeholders, including employers, unions representing workers and the government, as a mediators and as a result of the National Minimum Wage Negotiations on September 28, 2023, the minimum wage  Of workers in 2024, an increase of $4, a total of $204

Voting at the National Minimum Wage Council meeting for the third term of the first year showed that the wage figure proposed by the employers $202 received 46 out of 51 votes, while the figure $204 received no votes and the figure of $213 received five votes.

Noted that after receiving 46 votes in favor of the 2024 minimum wage of $202, the Cambodian government decided to add another $2, or $204.
