Kandal: Yorn Vannak, President of the Workers 'Movement Union at Hop Lock Corporation Factory in Trapeang Bruy Village, Bekchan Commune, Ang Snoul District, Kandal Province, was threatened with death by the President of Khmer Union Federation of Workers Spirit at the same factory because they did not want to have a union that protects the real interests of worker in the factory.

According to Yorn Vannak, on August 14, at 4 pm, Choeun Chamroeun, known as the president of the Workers' Spirit Union at the Hop Lok factory, used life-threatening words to Yorn Vannak by saying that, "Be careful, you are hit getting into the canal," which is an unacceptable threat as a person living in a country with peace and a basic constitution.

In this case, the president of CUMW, Pav Sina, Noted the threat from the other side as a union that serve the interests of employers, especially the administrators and the union is in the same group, one thing the worst that is unacceptable for this threatening act.

Pav Sina said that forming a union or joining a union movement is an apply as well as the use of workers' rights, but we observe that the Hob Lock factory did illegal acts and the worst thing that cannot be acceptable. The factory administration, along with the workers spirit union, threatened the lives of CUMW’s union representatives who had already formed a union until they were fired and reinstated after the intervention from international partners.

"We now observe that this aspect of persecution, as well as the threat to life, is one of the worst things, and I call on the authorities to investigate the actions of the Workers Spirit union leaders, who threatens our union representatives, with the administration and employers behind it, especially the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, is scrutinizing the actions of this factory and the unions that have committed wrongdoing from its profession.

It should be noted that Yorn Vannak was elected as the President of the Workers' Movement Union at Hop Lok Factory in the election on July 28, 2023, after which the factory side fired him until the intervention of the relevant and the company hired him back, but he was still threatened by the administration and the union, especially Choeun Chamroeun.

Vannak stated that, "At 4 pm on August 14, when we left work, Choeun Chamroeun said, 'Be careful, let me drop you in the canal.'" Vannak continued, "I have never objected to any words with him, For the threat because they do not want our workers' movement in the factory."
