Pav Sina supports the establishment of labor court, but must be an independent and professional court

Phnom Penh: CUMW President, Pav Sina expressed his support for the Cambodian government to establish a labor court system that will emerge in the near future, but he wants to see the judiciary that to be borne in the near future is an independent and professional judiciary to restore trust and confidence from all parties to the dispute, especially workers.

Pav Sina said, "It is very important to establish a labor court in Cambodia, but more importantly, according to a spokesman for the Ministry of Justice, it takes a long time to establish a labor court due to the lack of human resources, technical experts and some other materials and more studies are needed."

He said that the establishment of the labor court in the future for himself is to see a truly independent and professional labor court to ensure that cases are referred to the court in relation to labor disputes, all parties will get real justice. "Because for the judiciary in Cambodia, for me as a union leader who has been subjected to many injustices in the past, I and other citizens and workers clearly see and heard that our court system is injustice, did give the justice to the real victims", except for the protection of the rich and powerful person."

He added that all this has made people never trust the judiciary in Cambodia, so when the government decides to establish a labor court system in the near future, it is something that unions wanted, but more importantly, Will this court be an independent institution or not? He added that if the judiciary is not independent, without the participation of the parties, which is a tripartite body, it is clear that the working process of this labor court will be the same as the current judiciary, which will continue to lose workers' trust.

He said that it was similar to the case where workers were fired or their rights were violated, and when they protested peacefully, they were prosecuted for incitement or insecurity and so, when they just exercise their rights, they are charged. "That is why we want to see the labor court as an independent and professional judiciary that provides the real justice to the controversy."
