Phnom Penh: After the intervention and help from the Collective Union of Movement of Workers (CUMW), Sun Chamroeun, who was 4 months pregnant, was terminated by SHEICO Group on May 29, 2023. Returned to work as usual.

After receiving complaint from Sun Chamroeun on May 31, the CUMW processed both domestic and foreign complaints, and this morning, June 8, reached a settlement between the relevant parties, including stakeholders such as Victims, factory side, Ministry of Labor agreed to allow Sun Chamroeun to return to work on June 10.

SHEICO Group, located in Manhattan Economic Zone, Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, terminated the employment contract of Sun Chamroeun, a 4-month pregnant woman, on Monday, May 29, 2023, with the role of Quality Control QC in this company.

It should be noted that the actions of SHEICO Group against Sun Chamroeun on May 29 are contrary to the Labor Law of Cambodia. Following the recommendation of the head of the Cambodia Government, which has been paying close attention to pregnant workers. in particular, it is a serious violation of the International Labor Organization Convention No. 190 (C190) on Gender-Based Violence and Harrassment in the World Work.
