Siem Reap: Numerous trade unions and civil society organizations gathered to celebrate the 77th International Human Rights Day on December 10, under the theme of rights to freedom of trade unions, associations, and social protection systems.
International Human Rights Day on December 10, 2025, was held in Siem Reap province, where trade union freedoms were extensively discussed, particularly the social protection system currently operating in Cambodia's garment, footwear, bag, and travel goods manufacturing sectors.

Freedom of association stands as the foundation of workers' rights, as enshrined in international frameworks such as ILO Convention No. 87. It empowers employees to form and join trade union movements without interference from employers, while promoting collective bargaining for fair wages, safe working conditions, and equitable treatment.
Cambodia's social protection system covers healthcare, occupational risks, pensions for the elderly, persons with disabilities, and survivors, primarily for formal sector workers in enterprises with eight or more employees, along with recent expansions promoting voluntary contributions.
