Phnom Penh: On the occasion of Cambodia’s celebration of International Labor’ Day, May 1, Collective Union of Movement of Workers, as well as other unions in Cambodia, have joined forces to campaign on the International Labor Organization Convention No. 135 (ILO C135), which has adopted some key points.

What is included in ILO Convention C135 is the provision of paid leave, which allows union representatives to take paid leave during working hours to attend union meetings and participate in negotiations with workers to resolve grievances.

Use of company communication equipment, access to other work sites, use of the office, including union activities, as well as support for travel or reimbursement after travel, including union activities, etc.

ILO Convention C135, the Workers' Representatives Convention, aims to protect workers' representatives from acts prejudicial to them, including dismissal, ensuring they can perform their role without fear of retaliation Cambodia has not ratified this convention yet.

In Cambodia, the ILO supports labor rights and social dialogue, working with trade unions and employers to improve conditions, but C135 specifically remains unratified.
