Pav Sina Backs Initiative for Preventing Non-Communicable Diseases in the Workforce

Phnom Penh: President of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers (CUMW), Pav Sina, strongly supports the campaign to prevent non-communicable diseases among workers. He believes that it is very important to educate workers and employees to understand and promote better health care.

His support for the campaign is because in the past, he has seen that most workers' diets are exposed to poor quality and unsanitary food purchased at the market, which can affect their health, especially making workers less energetic and malnourished.

Pav Sina said that "I request the Ministry of Labor, including the Ministry of Health and relevant parties to continue the campaign activities more vigorously, especially to promote them to eat foods that can help their health, are nutritious and hygienic, so that their health is better."

According to Kata On, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, there are currently more than 920,000 workers working in more than 1,500 garment factories and enterprises. He called on workers to take care of their health, especially reducing their consumption of foods that are high in sugar, salt, and fat, including alcohol, energy drinks, and cigarettes.

He said that according to the findings, those who eat too much sugar, salt, and fat are at risk of developing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure, tooth decay, and heart attacks.
